About Me

Posted Sep 23, 2006

My name is Carlos Vazquez and welcome to my blog. I created this blog to share ideas and experiences with anyone who happens to come across these pages.

I am originally from Astoria, New York, where I lived until I was 15. When I turned 15, my family and I moved to Cape Coral, Florida. When I graduated high school I came to Orlando at age 18 to attend UCF, where I graduated with a degree in Computer Science.

My parents are both first generation Americans. My mother came to New York City from Alcamo, Sicily with her family when she was 8 years old back in 1955. My father came from Manzanillo, Cuba by himself when he was 19 in 1965.

I am currently married to Leala. More about her on Grow And Eat With Leala.

When I am not working, I really enjoy running, volleyball, biking, travelling and working in my yard. I also enjoy, but don't do enough camping, hiking, rollerblading, swimming, volunteering and reading.

I have an 11 year old dog Anastasia, who is a lab mix. She brings me lots of joy. She's very playful and friendly (some people might say too friendly). I also inherited 2 american long haired cats from Leala, who tolerate Anastasia.

I still live in Orlando and currently work full time at Mojo Interactive. My skills include working with website technologies technologies such as Coldfusion, MySQL, Linux, JQuery, PHP and Python.

I hope to give some exciting stories about these things about me within my blog.

Carlos
