Estes Park and Mountain Breakfast

Feb 9, 2008

Since we got to bed very early the night before, we woke up at about 5am. We got ready and walked over to a shopping center about 5 minutes away for breakfast. The wind was still blowing hard and we were bundled up to handle the cold weather. We walked through an open snow filled field to the diner. The diner didn't open until 7 and we were about 15 minutes early, so just looked through some of the other shop windows until the diner opened and let us in.

The owners were a friendly older couple, originally from Wisconsin. They had Fox News on, which was mainly talking about the presidential race and kept cutting into Mike Hukabee giving a speech which was live. We thought it was strangely early for him to be giving one.

The food was good. I got a veggie omelet and she ate eggs with trout. I think hers was called the mountain breakfast. The owners talked to us some more. We mentioned we were venturing into Rocky Mountain National Park and they recommended the snow shoe tours.

After breakfast we walked back to the hotel, cleaned up and checked out. By that time it was around 9 and we headed to rocky mountain national park.
