Here is a classic Cuban recipe for Picadillo. While preparing this dish, also prepare a side of black beans and rice at the same time.
Ingredients
1 lb Ground Beef
1/2 cup Pitted Green Olives stuff with Pimientos
1/4 cup raisins
1/2 Onion chopped
4 cloves Garlic sliced thin
1 Green pepper sliced
1/2 Tomato sliced thin
Adobo Criollo con sazon seasoning powder
Olive oil in misto spray
Instruments
1 large cast iron pan with cover
1 mixing spoon
1 large cutting board
Directions
- Preheat pan to a setting of medium-low (1/4 turn on stove)
- Spray olive oil on pan just enough to make it wet
- Wait a couple of minutes for oil to heat
- Add Garlic slices and saute
- As soon as the Garlic starts turning brown add the onions and saute together
- Spray some more oil on Garlic and onions if they look too dry
- When the onions and garlic are both turning brown, remove from pan and set aside
- Add ground beef to pan and chop it up while it's cooking
- When ground beef is brown, drain the excess grease
- Lightly sprinkle seasoning powder over whole pan
- Mix 2 mins more
- Add the onions, garlic, olives, raisins, green pepper and tomato
- Lighty sprinkle seasoning powder again
- Continue mixing all ingredients together
- I personally like to chop up the olives while I'm cooking them to release their flavor
- Set temperature to low and cover pan
- Let cook while mixing every 3-4 mins
- After about 10 mins of cooking turn off heat and let stand for abount 5 mins
- Remove from stove
- Serve with rice and beans
