Brasil: Orlando, South Beach, Miami, Abuela's Condo

Jun 27, 2006

We set off to Miami for our flight to Brazil at about 12pm. We tied up some loose ends in Orlando. We mowed the lawn, packed up some and dropped off Anastasia for Dana and Denise to watch.

The ride to Miami went smoothly and we had time to shop, eat dinner and have a few drinks while there. We stayed at my Grandmothers condo and she got to meet her for the first time. Unfortunetly my Grandmother has been loosing her short term memory in her old age of I think 85 and she kept asking us the same questions over and over again. It reminded me exactly of Steve Martin in that SNL skit. Also she isn't keeping her condo 100àThe air was broke, the water doesn't run well and we found roaches in her freezer. How roaches ended up in her freezer I have no idea.

We chose to leave from Miami because the brazil tickets were atleast $400 cheaper for each of us, so we saved about $800.

While shopping, we found some great deals at the Gap across from my grandmothers. I bought a zipper down sweater, couple of dressy socks for the wedding and a small rain jacket, all for about $35. Later I bought a tie at banana republic. For dinner I took her to Larios.I had ropa vieja and she has piccadillo(she said mine is better ) and we shared a Sangria. I always liked the Sangria there because they actually add fruit to the bottom. We spent about $60 here.

After dinner we found an outside Irish pub a couple blocks down and had a couple of drinks. I had this awesome drink with ginger beer and whiskey.

That night we packed only the items we needed into our backpacks and put the wedding clothes in a small suitcase. We over packed when we left orlando and did a good job of slimming down. Also the backpack steffan lent me is awesome and I was able to fit so much in it(thanks Steffan), plus i knew more of what not to bring after my Peru trip.

The last thing to do was call the cab to come at 5:30am so we could make our 750am flight and we went to bed.
